Can a chiropractor help with a stiff neck?
Hands-on treatment may help some types of neck pain and stiffness. An assessment can help establish whether it is suitable for you and whether exercises or another approach should form part of your care.
Can chiropractic care help with headaches?
Some headaches originate from problems in the neck, and manual therapy may help in certain cases. However, headaches have many possible causes, so it is important to understand your symptoms before recommending treatment.
Should I have a massage for shoulder pain?
Massage may offer short-term relief for some types of shoulder pain. If the pain persists, gets worse or restricts your movement, have it assessed rather than relying on massage alone.
Can treatment help with back pain from sitting at a desk?
If sitting for long periods seems to aggravate your back, treatment may be considered alongside exercise and advice on keeping active. Hands-on care should support a wider plan rather than be the only approach.
Can I have a massage for a pulled muscle?
A recent muscle strain needs time and appropriate care before massage is considered. Avoid massage during the first couple of days, as it can increase swelling, and seek advice if the injury is very painful or difficult to use.
Should I see someone about ongoing hip pain?
Yes - hip pain that keeps returning or affects everyday activities is worth having assessed. Understanding the cause helps determine whether exercise, hands-on care or another treatment is appropriate.
Can hands-on treatment help with knee arthritis?
For some people with knee osteoarthritis, manual therapy may be considered alongside therapeutic exercise. It is not a cure for arthritis and should not replace an exercise-based treatment plan.
Can massage help with fibromyalgia?
Some people may find massage helpful, but the evidence is limited and responses vary. Any massage should be gentle enough not to cause pain, with suitability discussed beforehand.
Is deep tissue massage best for painful muscles?
Not necessarily. Firmer pressure is not automatically more effective, and research has not established that one massage style is best for everyone. The approach should suit your symptoms, health, and comfort.
Should I rest completely when my back hurts?
For most people with lower back pain, continuing normal activities as comfortably as possible is recommended rather than prolonged rest. Advice and exercise should be tailored to your needs and abilities.
Important: If back pain or sciatica comes with new numbness, difficulty passing urine, or loss of bladder or bowel control, seek advice from your GP.
